The school banner read “Be the Light”. It caused me to pause and consider what that meant for me. My mind drifted for awhile but landed with the question, who is a light for me in the different areas of my life? I felt fortunate that numerous names came to mind, but the two names that bubbled to the top at that very moment was Katie Rucker and Charles Antis. Katie is the co-owner and president of operations of MacKenzie Corporation, a market research firm, and Charles is the founder and CEO of Antis Roofing and Waterproofing.

They are remarkable champions of this charity, serving on our board and dedicating countless hours to our expansion efforts helping raise nearly $14 million to date. They run successful businesses and are phenomenal leaders. But that’s not the reason they came to mind. For me, they came to mind simply because they are genuinely loving people who care about others and are committed to making a difference. They have been an inspirational light for me. They fuel me to lead a charity that shines a light for families going through dark times. I am Truly grateful to know and work with Katie Rucker and Charles Antis.
