NRCA and CNA, Chicago, have announced Advanced Roofing Inc., Fort Lauderdale, Fla., as the grand-prize winner of the CNA/NRCA Community Involvement Award for its charitable efforts with Bahamas Strong; the award honors charitable works performed by NRCA contractor members between Jan. 1, 2020, and Dec. 31, 2020.
Bahamas Strong was born in response to Hurricane Dorian striking the Bahamian islands and leaving $3.4 billion in damage, at least 70 people dead and at least 70,000 people homeless. Advanced Roofing President and CEO Rob Kornahrens developed a coordinated effort in 2020 to repair 30 homes and raised more than $500,000. CNA awarded Advanced Roofing with $7,500 to be presented to Enterprise Palm Beach Inc. for The Bahamas Strong Foundation. In addition, NRCA dedicated the proceeds of its Cyber Monday sale in November 2020 to Enterprise Palm Beach Inc. for The Bahamas Strong Foundation.
The second-place winner was Antis Roofing & Waterproofing, Irvine, Calif., for its charitable efforts American Red Cross Southern California Region. Antis Roofing & Waterproofing provided sanitized office space at Antis Campus to host a series of blood drives. Since April 2020, Antis Roofing & Waterproofing has hosted 29 blood drives, with 763 donors and 711 units of blood donated, resulting in 2,133 possible lives* saved. CNA awarded Antis Roofing & Waterproofing with $5,000 for its charity. *(totals since March 4, 2021)
The third-place winner was Celoseal Roofing Inc., Orange, Calif., for its work with Amp’d on Life, which creates an environment where amputees can be social and find freedom through mobility. Celoseal Roofing donated $45,000 to Amp’d on Life to help launch events and helped with website design, internet service and computer hardware. CNA awarded Celoseal Roofing with $2,500 for its charity.
Additionally, the winner of the People’s Choice category was chosen via online voting. Central Roofing Co., Minneapolis, won the People’s Choice Award for its work with Fraser, a provider of autism and early childhood mental health services. Central Roofing Co. helped transform Fraser’s Walk for Autism into a unique socially distanced event, and the company’s $25,000 sponsorship allowed the event to be free to the public. Team Central was able to help raise a record-breaking $130,000 for Fraser. CNA awarded Central Roofing Co. with $1,500 for its charity.
The awards were presented March 5 at NRCA’s Industry Awards Virtual Ceremony. Antis Roofing was honored to receive first-place CNA/NRCA Community Involvement Award in 2017. Read about it here.
