Aaron Antis, Director of Sales, joined Antis Roofing & Waterproofing in 2007. Aaron started in the field as a technician and has held just about every job in the company including financial system auditor and sales rep before being promoted to Director of Sales in 2012. Well poised to lead the sales and estimating teams, Aaron possesses deep knowledge about roofing and the homeowner association industry, as well as a keen ability to be an expert partner to boards of directors and community managers addressing the maintenance, repair and replacement decisions on one of the biggest assets in a community, their roofs. He also is integral to the commitment by Antis to provide field employees a minimum of 40 hours per week which contributes to the high employee retention rates and a key contributing factor in the quality of work Antis is reputed to provide.
Aaron engaged early in the core value at Antis of “keeping people safe and dry” and giving back. He contributes his expertise in the industry by serving on a committee that trains community managers through CAI. He also serves on the Build Task Force for Ronald McDonald House Orange County, which is the expansion task force to build out the needed rooms and additions to house the growing needs. BIO
Soon after opening Antis Roofing & Waterproofing in 1989, I arrived at the home of a single mother with seven children and a leaking roof. Upon walking in the front door, I was overwhelmed by the strong and distinct smell of mildew. As I stood there, unable to avoid breathing in the toxic air, the youngest daughter grabbed my hand to proudly show off her home. When she led me into her bedroom I witnessed a sight I would never forget: four mattresses with moldy bedding. I realized the family could not afford a new roof, let alone new sheets. A struggling entrepreneur at the time, I scraped together low cost roofing materials and a group of volunteers to provide a free roof for the family. The gratification of helping this family infused me with a passion for giving, and little did I know it would become the impetus for changing my entire business model.
In 2009, Sharon Ellis, president of Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, asked me to donate a roof and immediately thought about that family. I quickly jumped at that opportunity, and since then we have donated the roof installation for every Habitat for Humanity of Orange County home—half a million dollars’ worth. It has not only changed my life personally, but the way I think about business and success. Now our business model is built around that giving, and I suppose you could say I went from being just an entrepreneur to a conscious capitalist.
That spirit of giving and social responsibility inspired me to look into what changes I could make throughout the entire company so that we could give while also keeping the company’s success at the forefront (to enable all the give back work we do). That is what being a conscious capitalist means to me. With those principals now leading our company’s decisions, I can say what we do for the community is as much a part of Antis as our reputation for quality craftsmanship and customer service.
Charles Antis, Founder and CEO of Antis Roofing, began his successful career in the roofing industry in 1984, after moving to Southern California from Provo, Utah where he attended Brigham Young University. Charles serves on the board of directors of the National Roofing Contractors Association; is a member of the The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress; and serves on the board of directors and advisory councils for several non-profit organizations including Habitat for Humanity Orange County and Ronald McDonald House Orange County.
