Last Friday, December 19, Action Property Management honored Antis Roofing and Waterproofing with their 2014 Community Service Award. Action Property Management is one of our area’s most prominent management firms with offices throughout Southern California and San Francisco. Their “Action Cares” program is known for its numerous community outreach initiatives, working with organizations including Kids Alive International and Habitat for Humanity, Greater San Francisco Chapter.

The Community Service Award, according to Action Property Management president and CEO Marianne Simek, is given each year to a vendor who represents Action’s mission of improving the quality of people’s lives. This vendor goes beyond the profit motive to make the best use of time, money and resources to better the world in which we live.

Antis’ was this year’s recipient because of our efforts through Habitat for Humanity of Orange County to provide quality housing to low income local families.

Since 2009, Antis has provided the roof installations on many Habitat for Humanity Orange County construction projects, including, most recently, a number of townhomes in Cypress. This latest project made it possible for five families to achieve their dream of affordable homeownership in 2014, while ten more homes are currently still under construction with plans for completion in 2015.

Antis Roofing president and Habitat for Humanity Orange County board member Charles Antis was on hand at the Action Property Management ceremony to accept the Community Outreach award on behalf on the entire Antis staff, many of which volunteer regularly for Habitat for Humanity Orange County on their own time.

“It was a great night, and a great honor,” said Antis. “But really, this award goes to all of the hundreds of volunteers and businesses who have put in thousands of hours and dollars to make homeownership a reality for these hardworking families. Our donated roof installations would not be possible without the Habitat for Humanity organization itself. In working together, great things happen, and this award belongs to everyone.”

Habitat for Humanity’s homes are available to individuals whose income falls between 40-80% of the local median. Recipients, like the Casillas family, who received their mortgage papers in a ceremony on December 13, must invest 500 hours of sweat equity into the construction of their future homes. The organization provides a pathway to homeownership for hardworking families that would otherwise be unable to afford it and is dependent on volunteerism and donations from individuals with and without construction and homebuilding skills.
